Microgreens: Info/FAQ

What are Microgreens

Microgreens are the young vegetable greens that are harvested 1-2 weeks into their lifecycle. They are known for their high nutrient content, unique flavors, and vibrant colors.

How do Microgreens Help

Microgreens are packed with beneficial nutrients, often containing higher nutrient levels than more mature vegetable greens. Their nutrient density can boost the immune system, improve digestion, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and supply potent antioxidants.

Why are Home Grown Microgreens Better

Homegrown microgreens are fresher and tastier than ones from the store because you can eat them right after cutting. This is important because microgreens start to lose their health benefits quickly after being cut. Plus, growing them at home means no pesticides, making them even healthier.

A: No. All the energy in a microgreen seed is used to produce the first set of leaves, this does not leave enough energy for the plant to grow back.

A: It takes around 7-10 days for the microgreens to develop. Once you see a nice green (or purple) canopy you can start eating them.

Check if the water level is low, if that’s not it make sure they’re getting enough light.

A: Microgreens dont need a ton of light, though you should still try to leave them near a window or in a well lit room.

A: No. These seeds are grown hydroponically (in water, not dirt!)

No, but if in a warmer environment water may evaporate. Personally I prefer to exchange the water when taking off the shade covers.
